One of the fastest growing communities in the area

The Gateway to Hardeman County

Message from the Mayor

Gene BowdenI am honored to serve as the mayor of the town of Whiteville and set a vision for our residents, businesses and dedicated municipal leaders.  I strive continually to be worthy of that honor, and I am deeply humbled as we move forward.  I realize we are at our best when we are working together. That is why we solicit your support, as we work to grow and move our town toward greatness.

Whiteville is a beautiful and historic community. Distinctiveness has value and community matters.  Our downtown is iconic, so we are working to revitalize it to be the heart and soul of our community.  We believe that education and workforce training is vital to economic development.  We are proud of our Whiteville Elementary ( pre-K-8) level 5 school and our Tennessee College of Applied Technology.

Safewise.com named Whiteville #5 among the safest cities in Tennessee in 2021.  We commend our police department for its efforts to keep us safe.

We believe social offerings are important to community satisfaction.  We are sponsoring more social events such as Main Street Musical, concerts in the park, youth camp, and Saturday walks with friends, families, and neighbors.

We believe Whiteville is a great place to live, work and raise a family.  We invite businesses, industries, and residents to consider the town of Whiteville.  Our 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” That tells me we must remain steadfast in our vision, be persistent, and never give up.

-Gene Bowden, Mayor
